SAMARIA. 'Middle Levantine' Series. Circa 375-333 BC. M'h (Silver, 9 mm, 0.60 g, 9 h). 𐡔𐡌𐡓𐡉𐡍 (ŠMRYN in Aramaic) The Persian Great King (?) seated to right on throne, wearing spiked crown, holding scepter in his right hand and flower in his left. Rev. 𐡌𐡁𐡂𐡉 (MBGY in Aramaic) Lion attacking stag to right. Meshorer & Qedar 47. Jeselsohn 75. Rare and exceptionally well preserved. A beautiful example with a lovely depiction of the Great King and unusually clear legends. Slightly rough, otherwise, good very fine.
